I have a large game collection and I feel what games you buy tends to show what trends of games you like. Note this is my console games list, I have a separate but larger list for pc's. Wondering others would share theres.

The only reason to even consider owning any PS is for the Final Fantasy games.

True but some other real gems are:
Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears/saga, and Suikoden Series.
The depth / orginality in them few games have.

Suikoden 2 goes for over 40+ (or a lot more if you bundle it with the crappy stragety guide) on ebay with real bids, and it's psone game.

Ok... I take that back. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is a truly amazing game. I still bust out my PS to take that game for a spin every now and then. Classic 2D gaming at it's best.

I LOVED that game

the music, 2d side scroll with some rpg elements

The sprite graphics were well done. Can compare it to Super Meteroid for the SNES.

I can see games that are based on sprite graphics lasting longer, when you do 3d they look so cool but when better generation 3d comes out, the look crappy.

With sprite, as long as there done well and the resolution is high enough they don't get the omg graphics suck as 3d game do.

SOTN is very close to Super Metroid as far as the greatest 2D side-scrollers of all time. It's so tough, I couldn't possibly pick one over the other. They are both classics in every sense of the word. If SOTN has any edge, it would definately be in the soundtrack department... simply amazing music. But since a lot of the game mechanics are basically borrowed from Metroid, I gotta give Samus a slight overall edge.
